Part of my Spider-man commission, and the second-most recognizable Spider-man villain after Doc Ock. It's interesting, though. I've always been a little more of a DC guy, so the following might be a bit biased, but DC seems to have much more iconic villains than Marvel. If you were to go up to a random member of the non-comic-book-reading public and ask them to name a superhero, you'll probably get about 50/50 DC/Marvel. But supervillains? Chances are you'll get Lex Luthor, the Joker, Catwoman, the Penguin, the Riddler. All DC (and mostly Batman, come to think of it. I blame Adam West.) But even though the Green Goblin is arguably Spider-man's greatest enemy, he hasn't entered the lexicon the way the DC villains have. None of the Marvel villains really have, it seems. I wonder why?
