One of these years, I really need to get down to DC and participate in the National Cherry Blossom Festival, held annually to commemorate the 1912 gift of 3000 Japanese cherry trees from the Mayor of Tokyo in an effort to enhance the growing friendship between our two countries. Worked pretty well for, oh, almost forty years.
